I attended the skateboard auction event this weekend. It was a huge success, raising about $10k for the Skatistan organization. Thanks to everyone who participated! It was really fun to see all of the wonderful boards.
As you may remember, I'm taking part in a fundraiser for a really cool organization – Skateistan. They use skateboarding to incentivize boys and girls in Afghanistan to further their education…all the while enjoying “being a kid" in the face of violent conflict. The kids literally go to school for the chance to skateboard afterwards.
The auction is now open online for the skateboards. Here is a link if you want to bid on any of the wonderful skateboards that have been created by Seattle artists to raise money for the cause.
A note about the blog: I'm still figuring out the right pacing for how often to post. So I'm planning on just posting on Mondays and Wednesdays for a while to see how that goes.
Here's the final deck for the Skateistan auction.
I'm currently working on art for a skateboard deck that will be sold at a charity auction in December. The auction will raise money for an organization called Skateistan. This sounds like a very cool organization that seeks to provide education and a positive community for kids in Afghanistan. The skateboard decks will be auction off on December 6th in Seattle.
